According to the latest figures published by Eurostat, Portugal is the country in the European Union (EU) that presents the biggest income disparity between rich and poor. In a comparison between the 20% richest and 20% poorest the ratio is off 7, 4 this meaning that the richest have 7, 4 times more than the needier. Other figures discouraging for Portugal are the worst Scholl dropout (38, 6), the largest percentage of poor residents in the EU (15%) and one of the largest percentage of poor children (15,5). After adding all this together Portugal is regarded as the country most unequal in the EU with the largest percentage of poor citizens (21%). This means that 2 million Portuguese live with less than 350 euros per month.
