Government to keep share in PT

The Portuguese government will keep its “massive” share in Portugal Telecom which gives it the power to veto strategic policy decisions.

"This is the only way we can defend well the interests of the Portuguese people. We are going to keep the 'massive' share in Portugal Telecom," José Socrates told weekly newspaper Expresso.

"The state needs to have a part of these firms which allows it to protect the public interest," he added.

Portuguese conglomerate Sonae launched a 10.7 billion euro bid last month to acquire the telecom and strongly opposes the government’s decision.

Muito obrigado pelos comentários. Eu acho que temos um grande país e existem muitos portugueses que não sabem ler Português. Então decidi tentar criar um blog que pudesse ajudar essas pessoas.
