Portugal to produce Bird flu vaccine

The Portuguese pharmaceutical company Medinfar announced that it pretends to start producing vaccines against the human variant of the bird flu from 2007 supplying 63% of the country by 2008. The new production facility will be located in Condeixa (Coimbra) and represents an investment of 27 million euros. Up to now only nine countries had the capability to produce the vaccine: Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Holland, Japan, United States and the UK.
