Bill Gates to receive award

Portugal is to honour Microsoft founder Bill Gates whit its highest order for his efforts to fight poverty and disease. Portuguese President Jorge Sampaio will award Bill Gates with the Order of Dom Henrique in a ceremony Tuesday in Lisbon. One of the main reasons for this award is the fact that former Portuguese colonies like Angola and Mozambique have been among the main beneficiaries of the Donations made by the Gates Foundation. Friday this Foundation also announced that it pretends to triple the amount it donates to tuberculosis research by 2015 to 755 million euros from the current 300 million euros.
